This policy covers the website myfilehub.com and the MyFileHub app for Windows, both made by MyFileHub. Questions: myfilehubsupport@gmail.com.
The MyFileHub app
The app works entirely on your PC. It doesn't send your files, file names, folder contents or how you use it to us or anyone else, and it doesn't need an account. Error logs it writes stay in its folder on your PC. The app contacts us only to activate or remove a license key, and to check for updates, which also confirms your license key is still active (see below).
The waitlist
If you joined the waitlist before launch, we keep your email address, the date you signed up and which form you used. We use it only to email you about the launch, and we don't sell or share it. To be removed, email us and we'll delete it. To prevent abuse, the sign-up form keeps a one-way scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address for one hour; the IP address itself isn't stored.
Server logs
Like most websites, our web host keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time) for security and to keep the site running. We don't use them to identify you.
Advertising and cookies
This site shows ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, including ads based on your visits to this and other websites, and to measure them. You can turn off personalized ads in Google's Ad Settings, and read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalized ads are shown.
Apart from those ads, this site doesn't use analytics and doesn't set its own cookies. The MyFileHub app shows no ads.
Purchases
Payments are handled by Stripe. You enter your card details on Stripe's checkout page; we never see or store your full card details. From Stripe we receive your email address, the amount paid and an order reference. We keep these with your license key so we can send you the key, help if you lose it, and handle refunds. We email you your key once; we don't add you to a mailing list and don't sell or share your email address.
License activation
When you activate a key in the app, it sends us the key, your PC's name and an anonymous ID for your PC (a one-way scrambled form of a Windows setting, so it can't be traced back to your PC). We use these only to count how many PCs a key is active on (up to 3) and to show you which ones if you ask for help. After activation the app checks the license on your PC itself; the only time it asks us is along with the update check described below. Removing the license in Settings sends the key and the anonymous ID again so we can free that PC's spot. To prevent abuse, activation keeps a hashed form of your IP address for up to a day; the IP address itself isn't stored.
Update checks
Unless you turn it off in Settings → Updates, the app asks myfilehub.com now and then whether a newer version is out. Like any web request, that shows our server your IP address and the app version; nothing about your files or how you use the app is sent. A new version is only downloaded if you choose to.
If the app has a license key, each update check also sends the key and your PC's anonymous ID so we can confirm the key is still active. If the key was turned off (for example after a refund or chargeback) or this PC was removed from it, the app goes back to the free version and tells you why. We note when each PC last checked in; nothing else is kept.
Children
This site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
